Abortion Kills Children

Um.



I had lunch today at Lazzari's with Paul and as we were leaving, there were two people standing outside Highnooner's, the man was holding a sign that stated that incorrect fact titling my post, and the woman was holding what I can only assume was some kind of petition. In big bold letters on the back of the petition was something about PRO LIFE and it was all I could do to not get into a confrontation with these people. I could literally feel my face turning red from being angry about this. I was irritated the moment I saw the sign, because the whole time I'm thinking, 'No, abortion removes cell clusters that could potentially become a human being.' Key word - potentially. Paul and I just keep walking, I don't look at these people, I don't make eye contact, nothing. The woman cheerfully asks, "Are either of you by chance pro-life?" I continued looking straight ahead and said, "Nope" and kept right on going. There were so many things I could have said. I could have told them, "Anti-abortion would be the correct term, because you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who is against life." I could have told them I was pro choice because no but me has the right to decide anything about my body, I could go on and on. Instead, I did the mature thing, did not get involved in a shouting match on O street, and I walked away. I think I might be growing up. But people like this still make me sick.

In a related note, check out this review of of 'Unborn in the USA' that Emily wrote. She warned me ahead of time that the documentary would piss me off, but that I should still see it. I plan on doing so very shortly and encourage everyone else who reads this to do the same.

YAY! I love that I get a shout out! You rock. It's good that you didn't engage with those nutjobs. Because as you will note from my review-- that doesn't usually end well

Exactly. The one thing I will say about these people as opposed to other crazies around downtown, while I definitely don't agree with their position, they were not disrespectful about mine. Granted, I didn't give them a chance to be, but when I amde it clear what my stance was with that one little word, they didn't start telling me I was going to hell - unlike the man with the giant cross does when he stands outside the movie theatre and tells people we're all going to hell.

Defining something as a "potential" other thing does not suffice in the abstract.

A piece of paper may be a "potential paper airplane," but it is still an actual piece of paper. A potential Y must be an actual X.

You've said that the unborn is a "potential human." What then, in your opinion, is it actually?
